Although the scrawled logo of New Jersey's Misfits adorns the leather jackets of many a punk, most of these kids were barely even born when the infamous Glenn Danzig and company launched the seminal hardcore outfit in the late '70s. Born out of the fabled CBGB's scene, the Misfits co-opted the goth fashion of bands like The Damned and Siouxsie and the Banshees and created a gore-punk hybrid that continues to inspire contemporary artists like Marilyn Manson, Metallica, and GWAR.

In 1983, Glenn Danzig left the band to form Samhain. Years of legal battles and hard feelings pushed The Misfits into the "who was" catagory of the "who's who" in punk. In 1994, Glenn, Jerry, and Doyle sat down for the first time and reached an agreement out of court. In 1995, The Misfits reformed with Dr. Chud on drums, and Michale Graves on vocals.

This site focuses on the Danzig-led era of The Misfits; 1977 - 1983
